Woodpecker House
A proper woodpecker house is built with thick enough wood to provide insulation in the heat and cold and our light colored 3/4" eastern white pine is perfect for woodpecker boxes. The overhang protects the entrance hole from dripping rain and the slate squirrel guards prevent damage from squirrels who like to chew on pine.
The Flicker House is larger that the other houses due to the Flicker's larger size. The unique style of the Starling-resistant Flicker House allows the flicker to access the entrance hole from below by climbing up on the rough hewn pine. Starlings prefer to enter a birdhouse head-on and the Plexiglas shield prevents this.
Each woodpecker house is delivered with a supply of wood chip nesting material and ventilation of the house is provided by holes or slots on the side.
An accessory for the woodpecker family is a woodpecker suet feeder. Our feeder is ready to hang and be filled with suet. Lift the top to insert the suet or maybe a piece of cornbread. The feeder is designed to support the woodpecker or flicker as it balances on its tail. Be sure to hang the feeder away from the woodpecker house so the fledglings are not disturbed by the commotion of hungry birds.
Built with the individual species of woodpeckers in mind, we have the best woodpecker houses on the market. Treat your local woodpecker to a nest box of its own with our well-built woodpecker boxes.
