Put an orange half on the skewer, and you may find an oriole or tanager sitting on the perch enjoying it! Put one on each side for twice the fun. An apple half, a large piece of banana, or apricots, dates, prunes, peaches, pears and watermelon may also be skewered, as birds enjoy these larger fruits. Hang this feeder out in the spring when fruit-eating birds return from their winter in the tropics.
