Originally designed as a hibernation box for a few species of butterflies, gardeners have found that many species utilize this house for protection from the wind and weather.
One side of the butterfly house opens easily for cleaning.
Place the butterfly house in an area of your garden where it's somewhat protected by trees or plants, in direct or partial sunlight, away from prevailing winds, and three to five feet above ground.
Butterflies enjoy a supply of water in a dish or small pan lined with rocks.
Bark or sticks inside the house provide a place for the butterflies to cling and should be placed vertically.
