Owl Houses
Our excellent collection of owl houses features a Barn Owl House, a Barred Owl house, and a Saw-whet / Screech Owl House. The Screech Owl is much smaller than the Barn or Barred Owl and the size of the Saw-Whet / Screech Owl House reflects this.
The owl boxes are insulated from heat and cold with sustainably grown 1" thick eastern white pine which will fade to a streaked shade of gray over time. This color will allow the owl boxes to blend in more with the surrounding environment. Ventilation is provided by drilled holes or a slot in the upper part of the house. The top of the owl house extends beyond the front wall to divert precipitation away from the entrance hole. The entrance hole for the Screech Owl / Saw-Whet Owl House includes a wooden predator guard to prevent squirrels from gnawing on the wood and the extra depth prevents dangerous predators from reaching the nest.
A supply of wood chips is included with each of the owl houses to help the owls start the nesting process and protect the eggs. The owl boxes are built for easy cleaning by reaching in, tilting out the side panel, or removing the roof.
Our owl houses are large enough inside to install a video camera, offered as an optional accessory.
