Our Convertible Winter Bird Roosting Box is two products in one, providing a welcoming shelter for birds during cold and warm weather, too.

With the entrance hole located at the bottom half of the box the body heat put off by the birds will rise and remain in the house, providing a roost more comfortable than the cold outdoors.

When spring arrives the roosting box is easily converted to a nest box by locating the entrance hole at the top end of the front panel. The entrance hole at the top provides more protection for the nest and eggs.

Similar in size to our Small Winter Roosting Box.

Roosting Box measures 12-1/2" high by 7" wide by 9" deep.

Hand crafted in the USA by Coveside, of Eastern White Pine which provides insulation and durability.

Over time the wood will darken and more naturally blend in with the environment.

Shipped from the workshop in Maine and delivered to you within one to five business days.

Our selection also includes Horizontal Winter Roost Box (10098), Small Winter Roosting Box (10095), and Winter Shelter Bird Nest House (10099).

Mounting Suggestion:

You might want to mount your roost box on a 4x4 post with our Post Mount. Click here to be routed to the Post Mount page.

Converting from roost box to a birdhouse:

Tool needed: Phillips screwdriver

The winter roost converts to a birdhouse by inverting the front panel. First, open the front from the bottom and slide the perches out through the sides of the box. Then remove a screw on each side of the house.

The front can then be inverted with the bottom aligned with the base of the house. The screws can be reinserted into the original holes on the sides.

After conversion there should be a slot at the top of the front to allow for ventilation during the nesting season.

Enjoy viewing the activities in the roosting box with the addition of a video camera attached to your PC or television. The camera comes with a 100' cord and depending on the distance from your house to the roosting box, you may want to also purchase the 100' extension cord from the menu below.

ROOST BOX CAMERA:

Our Hawk Eye Birdhouse Camera connects directly to televisions, computers, or other monitoring devices, giving users live, 24/7 real time viewing. Comes with infrared night vision, built in microphone, and a weather shield so it can be used inside and out. One hundred foot RCA cable is hard wired (for audio and video inputs) to camera. Variable focus lens from 1/8” to infinity.

Power is supplied to the camera through 100-foot long cord. The camera is permanently connected to one end of the cord. The other end has three plugs; two plug into a television or computer for audio and video, the third plugs into the voltage converter (included), which in turn plugs into your wall outlet.

ROOST BOX CAMERA 100’ EXTENSION CORD:

Our Hawk Eye camera comes with a 100-foot cord and our extension cord adds another 100 feet to your camera range.
